Tragic Campus Relationships, When to Call it Quit.

Romantic relationships in colleges and universities are fast growing. It is common now to see campus couples having moments of public display of affection. A recent study shows that up to 70% of students in Kenyan universities have at some point been in a relationship. While these unions look rosy to the public, the real trouble is hiding out. Campus relationships have more often than not turned tragic. How do you know when time's up in a toxic relationship?

When you feel emotionally abused,  you might consider taking time off and focusing on your self growth. Emotional abuse comes in form of acts of dominance, belittlement and outright ignorance. When you feel this, do not wait for the worst to happen.

Second is distance. If you feel your partner growing distant, it might be time to call it quits. Distance is a show of disinterest and emotional detachment. It could mean that your partner has shifted emotionally and any reaction could spark an argument.

Verbal abuse is a common sign before relationships turn tragic. Most couples that report physical abuse had first been abused verbally in the relationship. Do not ignore it when your partner is saying words that hurt or demean you.

Lastly, physical abuse is the last thing you want to be a victim of. If you have once been in a situation of being physically abused, you know better than risk a second incident.

Do not wait until it is too late. You know what to look out for. When you spot any of these, your relationship is probably slipping away and turning violent.
